Keep it dry
The product is hygroscopic, and absorbed atmospheric moisture causes caking and reduces effective performance. Store sealed in a dry, ventilated place on pallets, away from water sources and condensation-prone surfaces.
Protect from heat and sunlight
High temperature and ultraviolet exposure accelerate ageing and reduce absorption over time. Keep stock out of direct sun and away from heat sources, and avoid leaving open containers in the field or in vehicles.
Handle bags carefully
Damaged packaging lets moisture in and leads to lumps that no longer flow or meter correctly. Avoid throwing or hooking bags, and segregate any damaged units for priority use rather than mixing them into stock.
Rotate stock and re-check
Operate first-in first-out and avoid long accumulation. Periodically inspect for caking or damaged packaging, and re-test absorption on any stock that is near the end of its stated shelf life before relying on it.
