The most frequent cause is a mismatch between application depth and root depth. Surface broadcasting or placement below the root zone means roots never access the stored water, regardless of how much product was used.
The gel must absorb water before it can release any. If application was followed by a long dry spell without irrigation, the polymer stays inactive. Always water in after application or schedule work ahead of the rainy season.
Hard or saline irrigation water can cut capacity dramatically. If your water has high conductivity, a standard grade may underperform badly, and a salt-tolerant grade is the appropriate choice.
Low-cost material may have insufficient cross-linking, giving weak gel that degrades after a few wet-dry cycles. Ask for test data, check retention after cycling, and match the grade to the climate and soil.
About FLORPOLY: FLORPOLY supplies super absorbent polymer water retaining gel for agriculture, forestry, landscaping and revegetation, including salt-tolerant and freeze-thaw resistant grades. Particle size and absorption performance can be tailored to the crop, soil and climate. Contact FLORPOLY for a specification sheet, free sample or application advice.
