In chilled waste rooms and refrigerated collection, absorption proceeds more slowly. A grade that performs well at room temperature may be sluggish in a cold store.
Evaluate candidate grades at the temperature the waste will actually sit at. Cold performance is usually the limiting case and is where products most often disappoint.
If cold conditions are unavoidable, plan for longer contact before containers are moved, or select a faster grade to compensate.
If waste freezes, expansion on thawing can damage the gel and release liquid. In freezing conditions, evaluate behaviour after a freeze-thaw cycle before committing.
