Control the environment
Keep material away from heaters, spotlights and direct sun, and avoid draughty positions. Environmental control does more to preserve appearance than any treatment applied to the snow itself.
Cover when not in use
Covering displays overnight or between sessions slows evaporation considerably. A loose cover that allows some air movement works better than a tight seal, which can trap condensation.
Hold a reserve
Keep a sealed container of prepared snow as a reserve. Refreshing tired areas from the reserve is quick and keeps the display consistent in texture and colour.
Mist lightly if needed
A fine water mist can revive the surface. Apply sparingly and evenly, since over-wetting produces the wet, slushy look that undermines the effect.
