The limiting factor is drying
Snow does not melt, but it dries. Exposed to warm air or direct lighting it loses water and shrinks back toward the original powder, becoming duller and less voluminous.
Typical duration
In a cool indoor setting away from direct heat, prepared snow can look good for a week or longer. Under hot lights or in dry air, visible change may appear within a day or two.
Extending the life
Keep it covered when not on display, away from heat sources and draughts, and store spare material in sealed containers. A light misting can restore surface freshness.
Plan a refresh schedule
For displays running more than a few days, plan regular top-ups with stored material. Refreshing small areas is far easier than replacing an entire installation.
