Why composition changes
Rainfall dilutes leachate in wet seasons, while dry periods concentrate it. Temperature also shifts biological activity and hence composition, so the same source can behave differently across the year.
Effect on dosage
Diluted leachate generally needs less polymer per unit volume; concentrated leachate needs more. Treating with a fixed dosage year-round leads to overdosing in wet periods and underdosing in dry ones.
Retest at the change of season
A quick jar test at the start of each season is enough to recalibrate dosage. It costs very little and prevents both wasted material and failed loads.
Plan volumes ahead
Wet seasons usually bring larger volumes. Plan polymer stock and disposal capacity before the seasonal peak so treatment is not delayed when liquid accumulates fastest.
