Because leachate is saline, salt tolerance is usually the first selection criterion. A grade that holds useful capacity in high ionic strength liquid will outperform a high-capacity grade that collapses in the same conditions.
If liquid is being treated in a moving stream or on a tight schedule, uptake speed matters as much as capacity. For static ponds left to stand overnight, a slower grade is acceptable and often more economical.
Solidified material is usually loaded and hauled. Higher gel strength means less liquid released under the weight of stacking in a truck or container, which reduces the risk of rejection at the disposal point.
Powder disperses quickly where agitation is good; granules are easier to handle and meter in the open with less dust. Choose based on how the material will actually be applied on site.
About FLORPOLY: FLORPOLY supplies super absorbent polymer for leachate and liquid waste solidification, including salt-tolerant grades for high ionic strength streams. Particle size, uptake speed and gel strength can be matched to the mixing equipment and site conditions. Contact FLORPOLY for a specification sheet, free sample or application advice.
