I have been in this industry for a long time and have seen just about every pitfall in SAP purchasing. Let me tell you about the most common ones so you can avoid them.
First: inflated absorption ratios. They tell you the resin absorbs 300 times its weight, but when you actually test it in water, it barely manages 150. This kind of material usually has cheap fillers blended into the raw material – lower cost, but lower performance too.
Second: sodium-type resin passed off as potassium-type. The two types differ greatly in agriculture. Potassium-type has better salt tolerance and is friendlier to soil; sodium-type is cheaper but fails quickly in the field. Some manufacturers take advantage of this confusion.
Third: material that looks fine but clumps when exposed to humidity and sheds powder under pressure. This usually means a poor drying process or bad storage conditions. You open the bag when it arrives and are shocked.
Fourth: no test reports. For food-contact and medical-grade products, if there is no third-party test data, who would dare put it into diapers or fresh food pads?
So when buying SAP, do not just look at the price. Samples, test reports, and batch data are all essential. Zhengzhou Florel New Materials has been in this business from base powder to downstream products, all produced in-house, with complete batch data. Feel free to take samples and test them.
