A kilogram of SAP can be as cheap as a dozen yuan or as expensive as several dozen – a two-to-three-fold gap. Many buyers do not understand: is it not all absorbent resin?
The difference mainly lies in four areas.
First, grade. Food-grade and medical-grade resin demand extremely high raw material purity, residual control, and production environments, with high testing costs – naturally more expensive. Industrial grade is relatively relaxed and much cheaper. Different uses, different grades, different prices – this is normal.
Second, performance. Water absorption ratio, saline absorption ratio, water retention rate, and absorption speed – each level achieved costs differently. High-ratio, high-salt-tolerance materials require more investment in formula and process.
Third, particle size specification. Fine powder is harder to process with lower yields and usually costs more than coarse granules; custom specifications cost even more.
Fourth, manufacturer strength. Major factories have stable batches, complete testing, and good service, with these costs included in the price; small factories are cheaper, but you bear batch fluctuation and after-sales risks yourself.
So when comparing prices, do not look at unit price alone. Level the playing field on grade, performance, and particle size first – then the comparison means something.
