Cold slows uptake
Lower temperature increases viscosity and slows diffusion into the polymer, so absorption takes noticeably longer. Products used outdoors or in unheated spaces must be formulated with this in mind.
Warm conditions and stability
Warmth speeds absorption but can soften the gel and increase odour development. For warm-climate products, gel strength and odour management deserve more attention than uptake speed.
Freezing conditions
If the gel freezes, expansion damages the network and liquid can be released on thawing. For products likely to freeze, evaluate behaviour after a freeze-thaw cycle before final selection.
Specify the service range
Tell the supplier the temperature range the product will see. A grade selected without that information may perform well in the laboratory and fail in the field.
