Drained trays
A tray with a grill or drain keeps product above liquid but does not remove it. The liquid still sits in the tray, still needs emptying, and still spills when carried.
Absorbent pads
Pads immobilise the liquid, so nothing spills and nothing needs emptying. The trade-off is a consumable cost per cycle.
Combining both
A drained tray above a pad works well for very wet product: drainage separates liquid quickly and the pad captures it securely.
Choosing
For portability and hygiene, pads win. For very large volumes where liquid can be plumbed away, drainage may be more practical.
