Keep liquid contained
The main benefit of a pad is that exudate does not spread. Containing liquid in a gel reduces the chance of it contacting other products, surfaces or hands.
Use a fresh pad each cycle
Reusing a pad defeats the purpose, since a saturated pad holds live bacteria from the previous load. Treat pads as single use within a thaw cycle.
Handle pads without touching product
Place the pad before the product and remove the whole assembly together, avoiding contact with the pad surface. Dispose of it without touching other surfaces.
Clean the tray regardless
A pad reduces but does not eliminate contamination risk. Trays still require normal cleaning and sanitising between uses.
