What the polymer does
Super absorbent polymer takes up the free liquid in food waste and holds it as a gel. The waste stops draining and sloshing, which makes caddies, bins and containers cleaner to handle and transport.
Why it helps in practice
Free liquid in food waste is the main source of odour, leakage and mess. Immobilising it reduces drips during collection, limits the liquid available for bacterial growth and makes emptying far less unpleasant.
