Most leaks originate at the seal rather than through the film. Product contamination in the seal area, incorrect heat settings or a film change without revalidation all produce weak seals that open under pressure.
Any gel or moisture left on the sealing surface becomes a leak path. Control the fill level, wipe the seal zone, and inspect for residue before sealing. This single control prevents a large share of field failures.
Temperature, pressure and dwell time must suit the specific film. Too low gives a weak seal; too high can burn through or distort the film. Revalidate whenever the film supplier or material batch changes.
Sample each batch for a compression test and an inverted standing test, checking for seepage at the seal. Where packs face rough handling, add a drop test to reflect real distribution conditions.
