Cross-linked polyacrylate SAP is inert and widely used in hygiene products, so routine handling carries low risk. The main annoyances are dust inhalation in bulk and mess if it contacts water unexpectedly. Basic shop hygiene is enough for most tasks.
Keep SAP in sealed, dry containers—any ambient humidity makes the powder clump and lose flow. Store off the floor and away from steam or wash-down areas. A desiccated, lidded bin preserves free-flowing texture for months.
For bag or tote handling, use a dust mask, gloves, and eye protection to avoid irritation from fine particles. Work in a ventilated area, avoid blowing air that lifts dust, and wash exposed skin after a session.
Sweep dry spills; do not hose them, because water triggers swelling into a sticky gel. For a wet spill, dilute and mop carefully, or let it set and scrape. Keep SAP out of drains during cleanup to protect plumbing. FLORPOLY provides safety datasheets with every grade.
